Netezza Corp. (NYSE:NZ) is a manufactuer of data-storage products, and their Q1 profit reports yesterday were more than 50% higher than analysts had predicted – leading to a big jump in their stock price after hours. The Netezza Corp. (NYSE:NZ) stock closed at $14, a jump of 6.4%.
Vertex Pharmaceuticals Inc. (NASDAQ:VRTX)
One drug manufacturer that wasn’t affected by yesterday’s market drop was Vertex Pharmaceuticals Inc. (NASDAQ:VRTX), who climbed.
The manufacturer of drugs has been holding clinical trials of a new hepatitis C treatment, named telaprevir. Their trial results have shown the drug to make therapy work more quickly and be more effective – which sent the stock price up 12% to $37.90 in after hours trading.
