U.S. aluminium giant Alcoa Inc (NYSE:AA) settled on a new four-year contract with the United Steelworkers Union.

The new contract covers 5,400 employees at 10 plants in the US and stipulates that wages won’t increase in 2010 or 2011 but all departments will be eligible for pay raises up to 2.5 percent in 2012 and 2013.

Also in the works is a scheme where Alcoa Inc. (NYSE:AA) employees will contribute more to their healthcare plan.
