AT&T Signs News Corp Deal

The wireless carrier AT&T (NYSE:T) has teamed up with News Corp’s Amplify education business to provide tablet based tools for kindergarten through grade 12 students.

As part of the joint venture, the companies will provide 4G mobile platform for teachers and students this coming school year.

Dan Walsh, senior vice president for advanced enterprise solutions at AT&T (NYSE:T), said, “We think there’s a real opportunity to mobilize the learning experience. AT&T (NYSE:T) would provide the devices and wireless connectivity in the pilot program. Students’ tablets would use school Wi-Fi networks as well as AT&T’s cellular network on, say, the bus ride home”.
