AT&T Strike Begins

The largest wireless carrier AT&T (NYSE:T) has said that 20,000 land-line workers in California, Nevada and Connecticut started to strike on Tuesday.

However, the company has now struck a three year deal with more than 22,000 workers in the Southeast US. The new contract includes annual pay increases and ‘modest’ pension increases.

AT&T (NYSE:T) said in a statement, “A strike is not in anyone’s best interest, and it’s unfortunate local union leaders in the West and East regions chose to take this action. The company forged a deal with workers in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee. The contracts will be submitted to the CWA’s membership for a ratification vote”.

AT&T Inc. (NYSE:T) stocks are currently standing at 37.44.
