AT&T (NYSE:T) said that it will release a new program aimed at blocking services to stolen mobile phones.

The company has implemented a stolen device database which will block wireless network access to the phone.

The company will launch the program in a few days and then it will be made available to other carriers later this year. The company hopes that this will help to reduce the theft of smartphones.

An AT&T (NYSE:T) spokesman said, “We are working toward a cross-carrier solution later this year”.
