Delta Air Lines (NYSE:DAL) has announced that its maintenance division, Delta Air Lines (NYSE:DAL) TechOps, has signed a multi-year exclusive agreement with Atlas Air, Inc.

According to the deal Delta Air Lines (NYSE:DAL) TechOps will provide maintenance and support services for three of Atlas Air’s Boeing 767-300ER passenger aircraft.

Tony Charaf, president, Delta Air Lines (NYSE:DAL) TechOps, said that, “The men and women of Delta Air Lines (NYSE:DAL) TechOps have a reputation for delivering the highest quality work and the most comprehensive support in the industry, which led to this new agreement. We look forward to continuing to grow our partnership with Atlas Air”.

The company may however be planning to cut jobs in order to pare costs.

Edward Bastian, Delta President, said that, “Corporate revenue momentum is continuing and our system wide unit revenue in January rose 15 percent from a year earlier, on strength in all regions. With fuel prices expected to stay high, Delta Air Lines (NYSE:DAL) is squarely focused on cutting non-fuel costs and garnering more passenger revenue from new sources such as first-class upgrades. We’re going to be looking at other ways to reduce headcount and Delta Air Lines (NYSE:DAL) is considering and I’d expect we’ll probably be announcing soon another early retirement opportunity for our employees”.

Charlie Pappas, Delta Air Lines (NYSE:DAL)’s vice president – Alliances, said that, “Delta Air Lines (NYSE:DAL)’s codeshare partnership with WestJet means an array of expanded travel options in the U.S. and Canada for our customers, with easy access to the airline’s extensive Canadian network and trans-border service between Canada and the United States”.

Mr. Bobby Bryan, Delta Air Lines Sales Manager West and East Africa, said that, “Delta Air Lines (NYSE:DAL) is enhancing its onboard product on more than 150 aircraft to offer full flat-bed seating in BusinessElite on all international widebody flights with the rolling out of a new full flat-bed BusinessElite seat on flights between Abuja’s Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport and New York-JFK, via Accra, Ghana”.
