The debate continues; with different dimensions and interpretations to the speed of microprocessors, and the latest claim comes from International Business Machines, that they have made the worlds fastest processor, with a speed of 5.2 GHz.
It was also reported that many other chips with over-clocked cooling systems are able to process at this speed, but these enterprise chips come without any need to encase your computer in ice-packs. IBM (NYSE:IBM)s 45 nanometer technology was used to manufacture this Quad core slab.
The support of over 1.4 billion transistors gives it the power to handle more than 50 billion instructions per second.
3M Company (NYSE:MMM)

3M Company (NYSE:MMM) have come out with plans to spend nearly $2 billion on acquisitions. The Chairman and Chief Executive George Buckley said to the Financial Times that the company will make at least 2 more acquisitions worth $2 billion this year, on attempts to buy in to the growth markets.
Our strategic intent is the safety and security business and healthcare. You will see at least one other in the industrial space, and in US healthcare, he added.
Philip Morris International (NYSE:PM)

The Chief Financial Officer of Philip Morris International (NYSE:PM) will step into the future of technology, by hosting a live webcast. The remarks and question-answer session of the company by the Chief Finance Officer Hermann Waldemer shall be the live audio webcast by the company.
The program is scheduled on Tuesday, September 7, 2010, at approximately 10:30 a.m. ET at the Barclays Capital Back-To-School Consumer Conference.
An archived copy of the webcast shall be available until 5 pm.
