3M Company (NYSE:MMM)

3M (NYSE:MMM) announced its 2nd-quarter earnings conference call will take place on Thursday, July 22, 2010, at 9 a.m. ET. Investors can access the webcasts for the events on the company’s website. The company operates in many different markets and has a market cap of nearly $58 billion. Earnings for the past 12 months were $5.05 per share.

Alcoa Inc. (NYSE:AA)

Alcoa (NYSE:AA) has operated in Russia since 1993 and has invested heavily to modernize its plants there. Friday Alcoa (NYSE:AA) announced it has made a deal with state-owned Russian ship builder JSC to boost the use of aluminum in Russian shipbuilding. Alcoa shares have taken a beating the past year so this new contract may be the boost it needs.
