It has been reported that Ford Motor Company (NYSE:F) will introduce the new Focus Electric car at the Las Vegas Show.

The official statement from the company says that it will unveil the battery-powered version of its popular compact Focus model on Friday at the Las Vegas Auto Show.

Derrick Kuzak, product development chief, said that, “The message we are sending in New York and Las Vegas is simple: Ford is serious about electrified vehicles as part of our plan to make fuel economy affordable. The new Focus Electric is the company’s first global electric production car and one of a family of five electrified vehicles coming from Ford in the U.S. by 2012 and in Europe by 2013.”
