Netflix Frees Chaos Monkey

The online streaming service provider Netflix Inc. (NASDAQ:NFLX) has released its Chaos Monkey source code to the cloud.

The Chaos Monkey, which was built in the Amazon Web Stores system, randomly shuts down virtual machine instances across large systems to see how systems adjust with it.

Netflix Inc. (NASDAQ:NFLX) wrote in its blog post, “In most cases, we have designed our applications to continue working when an instance [virtual machine] goes offline. But in those special cases that they don’t, we want to make sure there are people around to resolve and learn from any problems. With this in mind, Chaos Monkey only runs within a limited set of hours with the intent that engineers will be alert and able to respond”.

Netflix Inc. (NASDAQ:NFLX) stocks were at 56.85 at the end of the last day’s trading. There’s been a -30.1% change in the stock price over the past 3 months.
