The streaming video service provider Netflix Inc. (NASDAQ:NFLX) has announced that it has surpassed the milestone of 1 million subscribers in UK and Ireland at record speed.

The company launched the service in UK and Ireland in January and reached the milestone in just seven months. It has 27 million subscribers worldwide.

Netflix Inc. (NASDAQ:NFLX) chief executive Reed Hastings said, “This membership milestone is evidence that Netflix Inc. (NASDAQ:NFLX) has rapidly gained popularity in the UK and Ireland. Our British and Irish members clearly enjoy the ability to instantly watch a large variety of TV shows and films streaming from Netflix Inc.
