The US based defense contract giant Northrop Grumman (NYSE:NOC) has commenced flight tests of the first developmental multifunction active sensor (MFAS) radar for the U.S. Navy’s MQ-4C Broad Area Maritime Surveillance Unmanned Aircraft System (BAMS UAS).

Paul Buz Kalafos, vice president of Surveillance System, Northrop Grumman (NYSE:NOC) said, “The MFAS sensor is the first radar system to provide full 360-degree persistent coverage of both open oceans and littoral regions from extremely long ranges. The MFAS radar sensor will set the standard in maritime surveillance.”

Northrop Grumman (NYSE:NOC) shares were at 60.05 at the end of the last day’s trading. There’s been a 12.2% movement in the stock price over the past 3 months.
