Boeing (NYSE:BA) has partnered with the IFTC to enhance its flight training capability in Europe.
Boeing Improving European Training
Boeing (NYSE:BA) announced that it has teamed up with the Flight Training Center (IFTC) to add a new “green” flight training center to the Boeing (NYSE:BA)Flight Services training network.
The facility, developed by IFTC operates on solar power and incorporates several other environmentally progressive features, making it the first self-sustaining flight training center in the world.
Sherry Carbary, Vice President, Boeing (NYSE:BA) Flight Services, said that, “Boeing (NYSE:BA) is working to develop innovative solutions for our customers as we face tremendous demand for commercial airline pilots. In partnership with IFTC we’re now able to supply capable and well-qualified personnel in facilities close to our customers. This new capability combines IFTC’s expertise and operations with the Boeing (NYSE:BA) Edge – our unparalleled airplane and training knowledge that combines with breakthrough technologies – in a truly remarkable, self-sustaining facility”.

It has been reported that Boeing (NYSE:BA) and the US Navy have completed 1st Test of Advanced Mission Computer for Super Hornet, Growler.
Boeing Completes Navy Testing
The new mission computer will expand the performance of the F/A-18E/F Super Hornet and EA-18G Growler.
It also increases computing power and accelerates image and mission processing functions.
Kevin Fogarty, director of Boeing (NYSE:BA) F/A-18 and EA-18G Mission Systems, said that, “The Type 4 Advanced Mission Computer puts game-changing computing power directly into the hands of the warfighters who fly the Super Hornet and Growler. Working collaboratively with the U.S. Navy and our industry partners, we are increasing combat capability with an affordable, evolutionary approach to technology advancements”.

Boeing (NYSE:BA) has plans to establish a new Avionics Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul Center in Korea.
Boeing To Develop Korea Center
Boeing (NYSE:BA) announced that it has inked a memorandum of understanding with the Korean province of Gyeongsangbuk-do and the city of Yeongcheon to establish an avionics Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) facility in the region.
The center will service avionics components for the Republic of Korea Air Force (ROKAF) fleet of F-15K Slam Eagles.
Joe Song, vice president of International Business Development – Asia-Pacific for Boeing (NYSE:BA) Defense, Space & Security, said that, “Boeing (NYSE:BA) continues to improve its services by bringing them closer to our customers, reducing turnaround time and costs for mission-essential components. Over the past half century of working in partnership with the Republic of Korea, Boeing (NYSE:BA) has come to know Korea’s strong infrastructure and the excellent knowledge and talent base of its people and industry. We can tap into that as we expand our presence locally and grow our operations while supporting Korea’s development objectives”.

Boeing (NYSE:BA) has celebrated the first anniversary of its 787 Dreamliner certification.
Boeing Celebrates Dreamliner Birthday
Boeing (NYSE:BA) has been celebrating the first year anniversary of its 787 Dreamliner certification.
The company has so far delivered 17 Dreamliners to its customers.
The company received the type certificates from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) on August 26, 2011.
Larry Loftis, Boeing (NYSE:BA) vice president, said, “The certification demonstrated that the airplane met the all requirements for commercial operations, that we had completed the most rigorous test programme in our history and that the Dreamliner was ready to enter revenue service. It’s been a great 12 months for the 787 team. And better yet, we see a long, bright future for this programme”.

Boeing (NYSE:BA) has inked an $80M agreement with Avcorp.
Boeing Signs $80m Deal
Reports say that Boeing (NYSE:BA) has reached an agreement with Avcorp Industries to continue building the wheel wells for the Next Generation 737 and components and assemblies for several other Boeing models.
The value of the five-year contract is around C$80 million over the term that starts in 2013.
The other models Avcorp will provide components for are the Boeing (NYSE:BA) 747-8, 767 and 777, and the work will be done at Avcorp’s facility in Delta, British Columbia, near Vancouver.

Boeing (NYSE:BA) has celebrated the 50th anniversary of the Chinook helicopter.
Boeing Celebrates Chinook Milestone
Boeing (NYSE:BA) announced that it has celebrated the 50th anniversary of Boeing’s first delivery of the Chinook to the U.S. Army on Aug. 16, 1962.
The Chinook ‘copter, the tandem rotor helicopter, is equipped with two 4,000-horsepower engines and capable of lifting 20,000 pounds and flying 60 knots.
Leanne Caret, Boeing (NYSE:BA)’s vice president for H-47 programs, said that, “This is a momentous occasion. It really reflects the honor of those who came before us. It’s just a glorious day. An important component is having a customer who believes in the manufacturer, whose focus must be meeting their needs. Boeing (NYSE:BA) operates with a spirit of insight and total trust. Boeing (NYSE:BA) is just celebrating our midlife. It would not surprise us that she hits her century mark.”

Boeing (NYSE:BA) has joined hands with China on biofuels.
Boeing Signs China Biofuel Pact
Boeing (NYSE:BA) announced that it has teamed up with the Commercial Aircraft Corp. of China to push forward the development of alternative fuels and other aviation technologies.
Both companies have opened the Boeing (NYSE:BA) -COMAC Aviation Energy Conservation and Emissions Reductions Technology Center in Beijing.
The Center will first tackle the prospect of recycling cooking oil into biofuel.
Marc Allen, president of Boeing (NYSE:BA) China, said that, “These industry issues cannot be solved by one company alone. Our work with Comac continues what is now four decades of Boeing (NYSE:BA) partnership with airlines, government agencies, suppliers and research institutions to support the development of China’s aviation industry”.

Boeing (NYSE:BA) has set up a Kiowa simulator in Australia.
Boeing Installs Training Simulator
Boeing (NYSE:BA) announced that its Australian subsidiary has installed a crew training simulator for Bell 206B-1 Kiowa helicopters at the Oakey Army Aviation Training Center in Queensland.
The simulator aims to enable Boeing (NYSE:BA) Defense Australia’s flight instructors to refine and test training procedures for crews of the Kiowa, which is operated by the country’s military.
Mark Brownsey, AATTS project manager for Boeing (NYSE:BA) Defense Australia, said that, “Our investment in the Helicrew shows our ongoing commitment to supplying industry-leading, in-country instruction to align with the future of rotary wing training. As we mature this synthetic capability, Boeing (NYSE:BA) will work with our customer on opportunities to use the Helicrew to provide some pilot instruction in a more cost-effective, lower-risk environment than flying real Kiowas”.
