Amazon.com (NASDAQ:AMZN) has agreed to buy out its remaining interest in LoveFilm, the European equivalent of movie rental service NetFlix.

According to the reports, the deal comes as Amazon.com (NASDAQ:AMZN) is preparing to launch an online movie subscription business in the United States that would compete with Netflix’s popular streaming service.

Amazon.com (NASDAQ:AMZN) could also use its relationships with Hollywood studios and base of customers to help grow Lovefilm in Europe.

Apple has sued Nokia Corp. (NYSE:NOK) in the UK to invalidate touch screen patent.

The newest suit seeks to invalidate one of the touch screen-scrolling patents Nokia Corp. (NYSE:NOK) used to sue Apple in Germany in September.

The two companies currently have a total of 37 patents in dispute. Nokia Corp. (NYSE:NOK) was the first to sue and insisted over a year ago that Apple was infringing on patents mostly relating to 3G that it argues everyone must license.

The company told government regulators that the 1,250-barrel spill in Garvin County, south of Oklahoma City, has caused no injuries.

This 10-inch line runs about 20 miles from Eola to Maysville and the cleanup is under progress.

Report says that the world’s largest drug maker, Pfizer (NYSE:PFE) will pay up to $632 million to Seattle-based Theraclone Sciences in a research collaboration on antibody drugs for cancer and infectious disease. Theraclone will use this upfront payment as a technology-access fee on two unspecified targets in oncology and two unspecified goals in infectious disease.

Jose-Carlos Gutierrez-Ramos, Pfizer’s (NYSE:PFE) senior vice president and head of biotherapeutics research said, “This fits in the big picture of us wanting to be on the leading edge of biotherapeutics and antibody discovery, and this is one company we are very excited to work with.”
