Vice President and General Manager of armament systems for General Dynamics (NYSE:GD) Armament and Technical Products, Steve Elgin, said, “Over the past quarter century, the MK19 has been the single most most-highly- fielded 40mm grenade machine gun in the world. The weapon’s popularity is the result of its high reliability and the vast logistical support as the U.S. Government’s standard issue grenade machine gun.”

The M61A2 F/A-18 gun system continues to be relevant, affordable and extremely effective.”

The US Army has received 85 MK 19 grenade machine guns from General Dynamics (NYSE:GD) as part of an $8.7 million contract for the production of 650 weapons.

The General Dynamics Armament and Technical Products division produced the guns in its Saco facility.

In order to meet its increased production needs, the US based defense contract giant General Dynamics (NYSE:GD) is doubling the size of its Healdsburg Operations Facility by leasing a new 30,000 square foot space.

Rich Schroeder, General Manager of Healdsburg Facility of General Dynamics (NYSE:GD) said, “The company is accepting contractor bids for converting the 20,000 square feet of storage space for manufacturing, half of which will be a class 100,000 clean room. The goal is to start moving in equipment and initially 50 personnel by the end of June.”
