Home Depot Foundation Gives $20k Grant

The Home Depot (NYSE:HD) Foundation has awarded $20,000 to the Center for Puppetry Arts through its sixth annual Building Community Day program.

The donation will fund the Center’s Field Trip Sponsorship Program, created to ensure that children of all economic backgrounds have the opportunity to experience the Center’s unique, arts-infused educational programs.

Kelly Caffarelli, president of The Home Depot (NYSE:HD) Foundation, said that, “Home Depot (NYSE:HD) feels it is especially important to support local nonprofits that share our goal of creating and maintaining a healthier and more stable Atlanta. Several activities are planned by the store for the event including a nurse who will speak about breast cancer awareness and the importance of screenings, and literature on different aspects of breast health.

Maira Pastor, department head of specialty services at the Home Depot (NYSE:HD)’s Staten Island store, said that, “Home Depot (NYSE:HD) is responding to community needs. A number of women in the low-income neighbourhood have spoken to us about their lack of insurance and many don’t do breast self exams or go for mammograms, which can help them catch breast cancer at an earlier stage”.

Home Depot (NYSE:HD) announced that it contributed a three-year, $535,000 grant to City of Hope.

City of Hope is one of the few cancer centers in the country to offer temporary housing for patients and their families.

The grant, which was made through The Home Depot (NYSE:HD) Foundation, will help the City of Hope to remodel the main facilities office of Hope Village, a housing complex located on the cancer center’s campus.
