Johnson Controls (NYSE:JCI) announced that it is planning to launch its Panoptix building management system in the Middle East.

The system enables customers to easily and cost-effectively deliver optimized building performance and energy efficiency.

The system collects data from disparate building systems and creates a single, integrated view of building and system performance.

Jihad Chahine, the regional sales manager of the Panoptix Program Office at Johnson Controls (NYSE:JCI), said that, “Panoptix isn’t just another software solution. It is a complete system that delivers today’s most sophisticated building efficiency capabilities in an easy to use, app-based, open platform, with service and support from Johnson Controls. It is a combination of software and services that easily and cost effectively delivers optimized building performance and energy efficiency. It is scalable, you can use it for one building, an entire campus or a network of multi-site buildings. Panoptix is based on the cloud. What you do is that you connect your BMS to the cloud and then an application provided by Johnson Controls (NYSE:JCI) will go and keep that level of performance by your building always”.

Johnson Controls (NYSE:JCI) has announced that it has won a $5.48 million lithium-ion battery technology development contract from the United States Advanced Battery Consortium LLC (USABC), Ford Motor Company and General Motors.

USABC awarded the contract to continue Johnson Controls (NYSE:JCI)’s development of lithium-ion battery technology for plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) applications to meet USABC goals for low cost, long life, high power and high energy vehicle systems.

Steve Zimmer, executive director of USCAR, said that, “We are pleased to announce the award of this contract to Johnson Controls (NYSE:JCI) as part of USABC’s leading battery technology R&D programs, which provide exceptional value to our companies, consumers and the industry. These programs are essential to advance the technology needed to meet both near- and long-term goals that will enable a broad spectrum of vehicle electrification and alternative-fuel hybridization”.

Leading provider of heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) solutions Emerson has acquired the marine container and boiler business of Johnson Controls (NYSE:JCI).

The Denmark-based Marine Container and Boiler business unit of Johnson Controls (NYSE:JCI) supplies controls for optimal operation of refrigerated sea containers and marine boilers.

Ed Purvis, global business leader for Emerson Climate Technologies said, “Marine container monitoring and control, combined with our compressors and diagnostic technologies that also are installed on shipping containers, opens the door for us to provide a full range of powerful solutions to help global shipping companies and transportation managers ensure their cargo is transported in optimal conditions.”

The new 50:50 joint venture between Johnson Controls (NYSE:JCI) and Indian based automotive instrument cluster supplier Pricol Limited will use Pricol’s Pune manufacturing plant as its base and manufacture instrument clusters, displays and body electronics for both car and motorcycle manufacturers in India.

Jeff DeBest, group vice president and general manager electronics for Johnson Controls (NYSE:JCI)’ Automotive Experience said, “This new partnership combines the expertise and capabilities of Johnson Controls (NYSE:JCI) and Pricol to create a unique value proposition for our customers and differentiation in the industry.”

Reports say that Johnson Controls (NYSE:JCI), the auto supplier, has joined forces with the Germany-based Fraunhofer Research Institution for Polymeric Materials and Composites (PYCO) to develop sustainable materials for automotive applications.

Under the terms of the deal Johnson Controls and the Fraunhofer Institution will work, in particular, on polymers that are recyclable and repairable.

The two companies will expand the PYCO-Technikum science centre in Wildau, Germany, and will implement new processing technologies.

Being a part of this partnership Johnson Controls (NYSE:JCI) is committed to improving the fuel economy of its commercial fleets, integrating alternative technology vehicles like natural gas trucks and electric vehicles into its fleets, and reducing its overall fuel use.

Johnson Controls (NYSE:JCI), the global energy efficiency solution provider, has announced that it has received a new contract.

The company signed a deal with the U.S. Army to drive efficiency improvements at Fort Buchanan and U.S. Army Reserve Centers in Puerto Rico.

The deal is worth $34.3m and is aimed to provide renewable energy sources, updated lighting and other innovative systems.

The Johnson Controls (NYSE:JCI)’s project at Fort Buchanan and U.S. Army Reserve Centers in Puerto Rico are expected to save $61m over the next 16 years while creating over 100 local jobs.

Johnson Controls (NYSE:JCI) announced that its Global WorkPlace Solutions (GWS) has extended its partnership with BASF for four years to provide technical facilities management and relocation services.

The services include the maintenance of about 140 buildings at BASF’s Ludwigshafen headquarters and also at the company’s agricultural research site in Limburgerhof.

Klaus Göthling, Johnson Controls (NYSE:JCI) GWS customer account lead for BASF, said that “The highly technical nature of the work at BASF makes facility management and safety imperative. This extension will enable Johnson Controls (NYSE:JCI) to continue to support the important work BASF is performing in these facilities for customers and partners throughout the world”.
