Lloyds Banking Group PLC (LON:LLOY) has asked investors to exchange nearly $7.7 billion of junior notes for new bonds so that it can fill its funding needs for the next year.

Lloyds Banking Group PLC (LON:LLOY) spokeswoman Nicole Sharp said, “In light of ongoing market volatility and regulatory uncertainty, the group is undertaking an exchange offer on its Tier 2 capital securities which are eligible for call in 2012. The exchange offer also provides the group with an opportunity to improve the quality of the group’s capital base”.

The medical leave may last for at least six months as he was advised by doctors to take rest because of stress.

Horta-Osorio joined Lloyds Banking Group PLC (LON:LLOY) in the beginning of the year from Santander.

The bank may ask Tim Tookey to assume the role of acting chief executive.

The US taxpayer-backed bank Lloyds Banking Group PLC (LON:LLOY) has extended its Bonus Saver Account in the Middle East by launching the Bonus Saver 3 Account, to help its customers to save in four currencies.

Now the Bonus Saver 3 allows customers to save 0.75 percent for the first six months in dollar, sterling, euro and UAE dirham.
