Rite Aid (NYSE:RAD) has announced that it will launch the 18th annual Miracle Balloon campaign to raise funds for a hospital organization.

Rite Aid (NYSE:RAD) will launch its annual Miracle Balloon fundraising campaign on April 1 to raise money for the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals organization.

The 18th annual campaign will be held through May 19. The customers will get $7 in coupons for every purchase of a $1 Miracle Balloon at its stores.

Rite Aid (NYSE:RAD) president and COO John Standley said, “Rite Aid (NYSE:RAD) associates look forward to our fundraising campaign for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals every year. It is just one way they demonstrate our core value of being a caring neighbor. Just as we’re adding new mobile and social features to better serve our customers, we’re excited to expand our Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals campaigns with these technologies”.

Rite Aid (NYSE:RAD) has announced the 2011 Favorite Pharmacist contest winners as part of its effort to honor the company pharmacists for their commitment to consumer care and service.

The company will award $2,500 to a pharmacist from Yakima, Washington DC, and another pharmacist from Santa Rosa, California.

Rite Aid (NYSE:RAD) senior vice president Dan Miller said, “Rite Aid (NYSE:RAD)’s pharmacists are our greatest asset, and this contest is a unique way to celebrate their commitment to customer service. Rite Aid (NYSE:RAD) has announced that it will continue its sponsorship of the Road to Healthy Skin Tour, a journey conducted by The Skin Cancer Foundation.

The Tour provides full-body skin cancer screening to thousands of Americans for free, and will stop in more than 50 Rite Aid (NYSE:RAD) stores.

Rite Aid (NYSE:RAD) executive vice president Robert Thompson said, “We’re proud to have sponsored the Road to Healthy Skin Tour every year since its inaugural journey. These screenings are a great example of the kind of proactive health and wellness resources that Rite Aid (NYSE:RAD) is committed to providing. Rite Aid (NYSE:RAD) pharmacists can help customers select the right sunscreen and counsel on possible medication interactions, such as the increased sun sensitivity that accompanies many common prescriptions”.

The Rite Aid Foundation, the philanthropical arm of the East Pennsboro Township, Pennsylvania, based third largest drug store chain in the United States, Rite Aid (NYSE:RAD), has decided to donate $15,000 to the American Red cross for their efforts to help the victims and families of Tornado stricken areas.

The Rite Aid Foundation has also announced that they will be supplying additional supplies and items that will help the Red Cross’ relief efforts in the areas devastted by the recent natural disaster.

Rite Aid (NYSE:RAD) has announced that its private brand Thrifty Ice Cream has unveiled six new flavors, including two Greek-style nonfat frozen yogurts.

Two of the new flavors are Blueberry Cheesecake and Chocolate Lovers and are available now at California Rite Aid (NYSE:RAD) stores. These flavors feature Greek style crafting, higher protein content, lower levels of lactose and live probiotic cultures.

Ron Simmer, General Manager of the Thrifty Ice Cream plant in El Monte, Calif, said that, “Rite Aid (NYSE:RAD) is proud to be one of the first retailers to offer Greek-style frozen yogurt. Like the many storied Thrifty flavors that came before, our Greek-style varieties are primarily sourced, made and distributed in California – all for about half the price of most national competitors”.
