Wal-Mart Stores Inc. (NYSE:WMT) has been installing wind turbines to power its California distribution center.

In an effort to decrease its impact on the environment, Wal-Mart Stores Inc. (NYSE:WMT) is installing wind turbines at its Red Bluff distribution center in California.

This wind turbine will provide one megawatt of power, or 15-20 percent of its yearly electrical use. The turbine will be operational by the fall.

Greg Pool, Wal-Mart Stores Inc. (NYSE:WMT)’s senior manager of renewable energy and emissions, said, “If the project is successful, Wal-Mart plans to evaluate the potential for large-scale turbine installations at other U.S. distribution centers”.
