As the price of gasoline is soaring high, the grocery retailer Wal-Mart Stores Inc. (NYSE:WMT) is offering discounts on gas to its credit and debit card customers.

The card holders will receive 15-cent-per gallon discount at its stores in 20 states, while gift card holders will receive a 10 cent-per gallon discount.

The program will be launched on August 31 and run through December 24.

Duncan Mac Naughton, chief merchandising officer at Wal-Mart Stores Inc. (NYSE:WMT), said, “Our customers are under pressure from the economy. They also talk about gas prices. We have always had aggressive prices on gas. This takes it to the next level”.

Wal-Mart Stores Inc. (NYSE:WMT) stocks were at 72.41 at the end of the last day’s trading. There’s been a 10.3% movement in the stock price over the past 3 months.
