WellPoint (NYSE:WLP)’s care management team has been recognized by Dorland Health.
The company has said the seven members of its care management team have been named as finalists for the 2011 Dorland Health Silver Crown Awards for providing outstanding service to senior citizens.

These finalists from WellPoint (NYSE:WLP) are among more than 80 health care professionals nationwide who have been named as finalists for the awards.

Anthony Nguyen, senior vice president of care management for WellPoint (NYSE:WLP) said, “This is a terrific tribute to the success of our senior programs and to the commitment that our associates and their teams demonstrate in serving our senior members.”

Thursday 13 January

WellPoint (NYSE:WLP) Foundation has awarded a $195,000 grant to the Foundation for Health Coverage Education (FHCE).

The Foundation for Health Coverage Education (FHCE) is a non-profit organization with a mission to help simplify public and private health insurance eligibility information in order to allow more people to access coverage.

The grant from WellPoint (NYSE:WLP) will help FHCE to pay for the day-to-day operations of its toll-free helpline.

Lance Chrisman, Executive Director of the WellPoint (NYSE:WLP) Foundation said, “Our grant will keep the phone lines staffed and operating at the FHCE’s U.S. Uninsured Help Line, so that uninsured Americans can learn about their eligibility status and enroll in established government health programs.”

Friday 14 January

WellPoint (NYSE:WLP) Systems has announced new board appointments.
WellPoint (NYSE:WLP) Systems, a leading software provider to the energy industry, has announced that Messrs. Michael Goffin and David Sefton have been elected to the board of directors.

Richard Slack, President and CEO of WellPoint (NYSE:WLP) Systems, said that, “I am pleased to have individuals with David’s and Michael’s experience join WellPoint’s board of directors. Both bring significant expertise in the investment and funding arena to WellPoint and I am sure they will be able to begin making a meaningful contribution to WellPoint’s business ventures and strategic direction in the near term. I would also like to thank two long time Board members who recently stepped down from WellPoint’s board – Mr. Michael Maher and Ms. Wanda Dorosz – for their many years of service to WellPoint.”
